Fold Forward: Erin Dorney is a 2025 Unfold Guest Host
Join us on April 27 for Erin's workshop!
You ready for another guest host announcement?! I am. Erin Dorney will be joining us on April 27, from 7-9 pm CDT! She’s a poet, visual artist, dachshund owner, New Yorker, wearer of cool glasses, widely published writer, and my friend!
Erin Dorney is a zinester, collage artist, and author of Yes I Am Human I Know You Were Wondering (Autofocus Books, 2025). Learn more at www.erindorney.com.
I’ve known Erin for almost a decade (weird). We met when I briefly moved back to my hometown between the end of one career chapter and the beginning of the next. I was really missing the writing community and accountability I had found in college and lost for the last few years. Erin was teaching writing workshops at a nearby arts center (shout out Arts Center of Saint Peter) and I awkwardly tweeted at her (retro, I know) following the first session I attended to ask if she wanted to grab coffee. A life lesson I continue to stand by: approach people you want to know. Just do it. It almost always pays off.
My first bb chapbook was half full of poems I wrote with Erin and I’ve loved watching her career from a distance since we both moved away. I teach Erin’s poems and projects every year in Unfold on our found poetry day and I’ve been quietly hoping to add her to the guest host list eventually! Erin is one of the most creative, weird (complimentary), and talented people I know. I brag about knowing her. Oops too honest? Let’s move on.
Erin’s workshop is called Fold Forward and it’s all about zines! How is a poem shaped by its container? In this workshop, writers will learn to fold a zine from a single sheet of paper (any size) and then work through prompts that leverage the zine structure, including sequencing, reveal, spreads, pause, and momentum.
Become an Unfold member now to attend Erin’s workshop and 29 others each day in April. You won’t regret it. Registration closes on March 25.
If you’ve been in Unfold before, you’ve read Erin’s work and loved it. Drop a comment below to say YAAAAAY. Can’t wait!

Question the Body (this is my favorite of Erin’s projects)
This one gave me goosebumps, maybe for the local connection, and what you shared in your glo-up felt like inspiration central. Im excited!
I've wanted to make zines with Ollie and Link for some time now, but I didn't know all that much about it. I'm so excited for this workshop!
